Earth Spirit Plans Two Excursions for 2012
Earth Spirit naturalists will lead two adult expeditions in the coming year. In May, we will travel to the Canadian wilderness of Algonquin Provincial Park celebrated for its beautiful lakes, varied habitats and incredible wildlife, including Eastern Wolf, Common Loon, Moose and Beaver. In addition, plans are in process for an August trip to New York State's fabled North Country - the Adirondack Mountains. Details on the Algonquin trip currently are available on our website. Check back on our Events page this coming April for details on our Adirondack expedition.

On the Cusp of Spring
In the waning days of Winter, signs of Spring are already abundant. The longer daylight from a northerly progressing sun is a signal to both plants and animals that triggers change and hints at a season focused on preparing for reproduction.
Here are some things you can seek out or listen for offering the promise that Spring will soon take charge:
- Bird Song
- Frog Vocalization
- Migratory Arrivals
- Arousals from Hibernation/Deep Sleep
- Blooming of Snowdrops and Crocus

Right: Snowdrops - Galanthus nivalis
